WhyNotBarbershop puts an old twist on new memes
If you’re not familiar with the somewhat outdated musical phenomenon of the barbershop quartet, then take a few moments to edumacate yourself with the help of old Centauri himself, Robert Preston.
Now that that’s out of the way, check out some of the solo-quartet stylings of one anonymous SoundCloud user. This barbershop fan creates short clips in the style of the classic American quartets, using random Internet memes, forum comments and a few requests as his material. All of these are done by one guy, with some amatuer recording equipment and his PC. It’s not quite Statler Brothers quality, but for the strange intersection of quartet fans and Internet addicts it’s great stuff. Here are my two favorites: the most surprisingly literate 4chan meme ever…
